As relegation worries dominant the Tottenham run in the league campaign the Champions League has been a welcome distraction, but as Spurs will be Spurs, its once again come crashing down in spectacular style in Madrid tonight. After just 17 minutes, 4-0 down, shattered and down betting already started on who would be the manager by 10am tomorrow.
Antonin Kinsky has been humiliated by new boss Igor Tudor who has inexplicably subbed off the keeper who will probably never play for the club again – at least I wouldn’t if I was on the end of that treatment. How he can be singled out for what was such a shocking all-round team first half performance is beyond belief.
It was night where Richarladson was the only player who showed a bit of fight, they needed a whole team of him – and Igor Tudor subbed him off. You couldn’t write it, the old cliché says. Social media obviously fueled by fans desperate to see the Croatian “sacked in the morning”, and others even more bizarrely suggesting that Tottenham maybe NEED a season in the Championship for a reboot, some humility.
A second half with a little bit of fight, if you are REALLY looking on the bright side – they won it 2-1. Spurs finish with 9 men, not through a sending off but through injury. Concussion. And a lot of Spurs fans will the same themselves. As for Tudor, 4 games, 4 defeats, and general chaos on the pitch and even more on the sidelines.
What comes next, I’d be very surprised is by the time I do the school run tomorrow Tudor isn’t taking a large payout and the odds on an even more bizarre managerial appointment are getting shorter.
